Our Philosophy
The underlying philosophy of the service is to provide the children, families and educators with a safe, secure and caring atmosphere within a home-like environment. We deeply value the importance of play, recognising it as the foundation of children's learning and inherent rights.
Our program is designed around the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), incorporating its Practices, Principles, and the 5 Learning Outcomes. We encourage responsibility in the use and care of our resources, continually striving to create a welcoming and enriching learning environment for all.
At our centre, we are dedicated to supporting children's development through a tailored curriculum that caters to their unique needs, interests, and abilities. We adopt a strength-based approach, ensuring children with additional needs have access to valuable opportunities by collaborating with community agencies and resource services. Our commitment lies in equipping children with essential lifelong skills, preparing them for a successful transition to school.

Our practice is guided by the principles of the Early Childhood Australia (ECA) Code of Ethics, the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and the National Quality Framework (NQF). These frameworks support our commitment to building respectful relationships with children, families, educators and the wider community while ensuring that the rights, wellbeing and best interests of every child remain at the centre of everything we do.
Community Engagement
At Randwick Open Care for Kids, we value the importance of building strong connections with families, local organisations, schools, and the wider community. Through community engagement, children are provided with meaningful opportunities to develop a sense of belonging, identity, and understanding of the world around them.
We encourage children to participate in experiences that connect them with their community, including cultural celebrations, incursions, excursions, and partnerships with local services and organisations. These experiences help children build confidence, social awareness, respect for diversity, and an appreciation for different perspectives and cultures.
We believe that strong community partnerships enrich children’s learning and wellbeing, while fostering collaborative relationships that support positive outcomes for children and families. ​
Our Educators
Our team of dedicated educators hold Australian Early Childhood qualifications and bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion to their roles. Many of our educators have been part of the ROCK family for more than a decade, reflecting the strong culture, support, and sense of belonging within our service.
We value our long-standing educators and are committed to supporting their professional growth and wellbeing through a holistic approach. Their experience, consistency, and genuine care help create meaningful relationships and a nurturing environment where children, families, and educators thrive together.
Parent Committee
ROCK is proudly managed by a volunteer Parent Committee made up of families who support the Centre's growth, governance, and community. Committee members are elected annually by parents and educators and work closely with the Director to help guide the service.Parents with a child currently enrolled at ROCK are welcome to nominate or be nominated by another parent or the Centre Director to join the Committee.
Together, we help create a strong, connected, and community-focused service for our children and families.
